At OU Medical Center Edmond we know technology can do more than treat serious medical conditions. It can also help prevent them. That's why we've invested in some of the finest diagnostic equipment currently available.
Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) is a relatively new innovation which allows doctors to view areas of the lungs and surrounding chest area that have traditionally required more invasive surgical procedures to evaluate. And on February 25, 2011, Dr. Shane Hull proved just how valuable this technology can be.
Treating a patient who previously could barely shower and get ready without strenuous breathing and coughing, Dr. Hull used EBUS to detect Sarcoidosis, commonly misdiagnosed and treated as asthma. The procedure was much less invasive and took a fraction of the time compared to other traditional diagnostic techniques. Best of all, Sarcoidosis is treatable with medication.
OU Medical Center Edmond is one of only three sites in Oklahoma to offer Endobronchial Ultrasound technology. For so many patients, it's the kind of option that feels like a breath of fresh air.
Patients breathe easier with the technology Dr. Shane Hull is using.
